Jack and the Boa

Grammy, Jack and I went to Michael's (art/craft store) the other day and something quickly caught Jack's eye:

He really liked the boa. He ended up trading this white one in for a black one. He pet it for the time that we were in the store. Fortunately he fell out of love with it by the time we got to the cash register... so I didn't have to buy it.

Today Jack and I were playing on the stairs and he grabbed my headband... and instantly knew what to do with it... I think he makes an awfully cute little girl. Don't you?

Later in the day we did some errands... which of course involved a trip to Home Depot. Stephen ran inside to get whatever he needed to get. Jack, Grammy and I stayed in the car and watched another great episode of Barney. I tried to get Jack to wear the headphones so we didn't have to listen to that big purple dinosaur anymore. It worked for about one minute... then Jack whipped them off.

Interesting Revelation

I'm walking out of daycare today with Jack and we're cutting through the lobby of the Y, and we passed a female custodian (someone I'd never seen before). She perks up and says, "bye bye Jack." So I stopped and said, "Oh, so you know Jack?" And she said, "Yes, Jack helps me sweep."

Take Your Jack to Work Day!

Since daycare was closed today (long story) I took Jack to work with me for the morning. I had a meeting that I had to be at in person so I didn't have much of a choice.

Clean Machine

As we cleaned this morning, Jack made sure he was part of all the "fun." How much do you think I can charge for him per hour?

Dinner out... again

Tonight we celebrated that Stephen is back home by going to Longhorn for dinner. Well, actually we weren't celebrating... I really just needed to get out of the house.

Jack chowed on the bread, grilled cheese and then he ate a decent amount of my bbq ribs. He really likes barbecue. We had a very outgoing waiter who seemed to enjoy engaging with Jack. Jack gave him a "ta da", a "touch down" and even blew him a kiss at the end.

Night Night

Dinner with Sarah and Ryan

So since both Stephen and our neighbor Tom are away... Jack and I went out to dinner with Sarah and Ryan tonight. We hit Jimmy's Pub in Mansfield... not sure I'm going back!

It took more than an hour to get our food (!) so we had to work hard to entertain the boys... Jack smashed a fork on the table and sucked on pretzels. This while Ryan ate some yogurt and made faces at the boys at a nearby table.

Jack looks a little cross eyed here. There's a big pretzel in his mouth here. When dinner did arrive, neither kid was interested in eating. So Sarah and I tried to eat... but it was no use. We ended up getting it all to go.

When we got home we had time for a quick tv show and then it was night-night time. Here is Jack in his new jammies which I'm pretty sure are going to double as his Halloween costume this year.

The jammies glow in the dark... aren't they cute? He's also sporting his new slippers... they're little teddy bears. Jack likes to pick at the ears.

Stephen gets home tonight... gotta go clean :)

Hello...

So I know I've been remiss in updating the blog lately... I have a list of excuses... want to hear them?
  • tired
  • stephen is traveling
  • tired
  • migraines
  • tired
  • no new pictures
  • tired
Clearly I've been tired. But I can't keep my fans waiting. Here is your update. Jack is not saying "touchdown" when he throws his arms over his head, he's saying "ta da!" It's pretty clear now, but you can understand how we would mistake that for touchdown.

So now to get Jack to eat breakfast before school and still find time for his shows... we've combined the two. Yes, Jack eats in front of the tv, but in the high chair, so there is some structure here.

He's eating off his new "Jack" plate that he got from Jill. It has his name on it and pictures of trucks... makes meal time a little more fun.

Tonight after I picked Jack up at the Y we went to the McHugo's for dinner. Jack played with Owen for a while, threw a piece of pizza on the floor (making the golden retriever very happy) and got mad at me when I held little baby Ethan. When we got home, Jack chilled out while I took care of Chatty. Check out how messy his shirt got today...

Isn't he a big boy?

Jack's First Red Sox Game

We headed to Fenway today to see the Sox take on the Blue Jays. Gotta be honest, don't know who won. I think the Sox were losing pretty badly when we left (in the 6th inning). We went with our neighbor's Tom, Sarah and Ryan. As you can imagine, going to a ball park with toddlers is not exactly a day at the park... ha ha.

Here are the boys...

Jack thinks he's at a football game... touchdown!

Dad sneaking a little beer while Jack entertains himself by poking the nice man next to him or harassing Ryan...

Eating Turnaround

Jack has staged a turnaround in the world of eating. Now he's wolfing down breakfast (mostly sausage), chowing on his lunches and enjoying dinners with the family. It's a big relief that I know he's getting real food into his belly on a semi-regular basis. He also enjoys a nice snack every once in a while... Here is a picture of him eating a pretzel this evening.

While Stephen was giving Jack a bath tonight, I snapped a picture of Jack's "crib friends." When I go to get Jack in the morning I routinely find him having heated conversations with either Froggy, Elmo, Penguino, Birdy or Barney.

Since it's Stephen's "job" to get Jack down to bed at night, Jack relishes in saying bye bye to me. I caught him on camera blowing me a kiss...

Hmmm...

Here is a picture of Jack kissing Hunter's marionette chicken thingy... It actually looks like he's eating it.

Jack is sleeping with his flip flops on again. In fact this morning as we were getting him ready for school he insisted on wearing them to school. They didn't really go with the outfit, but heck it makes him happy.

Blog-cation

So with the economy suffering the way it is, I'm sure you've heard of the "staycation." Well, I just took a blog-cation. 7 days, no posts. Sorry. Needed to give what creative juices I have... a break.

I'm signing Jack and me up for swimming lessons at the Y tomorrow. The classes will be just 30 minutes long on Saturdays at 11:30. I found a video of a 17-month old who can swim underwater... I want that to be Jack!

Jack is sleeping with his flip flops on. Ask his father why.

While on Shelter Island, Hunter got this marionette chicken thing, that Jack just loved. I think he thought it was real so he kept kissing it. I have a really cute video... but every time I try to upload it I lose my internet connection. It's cursed.
